Head of Shari’a Consultations Department

Flow Talent is working with a bank who are hiring a Head of Shari’a Consultations Department for their UAE office.

Key aspects of the role include:

• Provide Shari’a consultation to the management and business units on the structures of all new activities, products, and services to be executed as per ISSC and HSA resolutions.
• Lead and manage the Shari’a consultations department as per regulatory standards and best practices in the Islamic banking industry.
• Responsible for reviewing and approving all company’s marketing materials and campaigns.
• Build and maintain a positive working relationship with regulatory authorities.
• Coordinate with the litigation department in the legal Division to provide the needed Shari’a views in legal cases.
• Provide guidance and support to staff to improve awareness and level of Shari’a knowledge.
• Perform other task as assigned by the management.

To be successful you will need to meet the following:

• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Islamic jurisprudence or Islamic banking.
• Legal background with the ability to discuss legal documentation with lawyers.
• Minimum 15+ years’ experience in Shari’a consultations in Islamic banking or financial services.
• Strong skills in structuring and restructuring Islamic financial transactions.
• Excellent skills in providing Shari’a financial consultations and reviewing the structures and documentation of Islamic banking products and transactions.
• Strong knowledge of AAOIFI Shari’a Standards.
• In-depth knowledge of banking and Islamic banking products.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Arabic.
